Residents of Nakhon Sawan Province protest against a garbage-fuelled power plant; demonstrators may move to Bangkok

On the morning of September 4, hundreds of people from Nong Bua district demonstrated against a garbage-fuelled power plant being built in their community. Dozens of farm trucks and e-tuk joined the protest on Nong Bua-Nakhon Sawan road. The demonstrators eventually intend to head to Bangkok to continue the protest.

Context

The protesters fear that the construction of the plant may bring pollution and environmental damage to their neighbourhood.

As a precautionary measure, individuals present in Nakhon Sawan Province are advised to avoid nonessential travels to the Nong Bua district, as the current demonstration may turn violent. Please stay away from public protest and gatherings and adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities.
