Vietnam: New expressway opens in central Vietnam Sept. 2

Event

On September 2, a new 140-km (87 mi) expressway linking Da Nang city and Quang Ngai province (central region) opened for traffic. Compared to the time travel on national road 1A, this new expressway will reduce travel time between Da Nang and Quang Ngai to one and a half hour.

Context

The expressway runs through the three central localities of Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai. This new road also improve transport of goods and people in the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia economic triangle region.

Advice

As a reminder, foreign nationals planning to drive a car or motorcycle in Vietnam must obtain a Vietnamese driving licence. The licence can only be issued to foreigners in possession of a Vietnamese visa valid for 3 months or more.
