Hong Kong authorities assess the damage as "severe and extensive." Typhoon Mangkhut - with gusts over 230 km/h (140 mph) - injured over 300 people in Hong Kong, caused landslides and floods, smashed windows in tower blocks and skyscrapers, and uprooted hundreds of trees that blocked roads and pathways.
Authorities expect the clean-up operations to take several days.
