An attack was carried out in the central Libyan town of al-Foqha, located in the desert south of Jufra, on Sunday, October 28, leaving at least four people dead and seven others wounded. The attackers reportedly set fire to local government and security offices. Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack as of October 29, local authorities believe it was conducted by the Islamic State (IS).

Context

IS militants have continued to carry out attacks on security forces and infrastructure in Libya since being driven out of their former stronghold of Sirte in late 2016.
