Chile: Anti-government protest in Santiago October 30

The ANEF union (Asociación Nacional de Empleados Fiscales) is calling for a protest to take place on Tuesday, October 30, in the capital Santiago to denounce what it claims is the illegal layoffs of some 2500 government workers. Demonstrators will gather in front of the Ministry of Finance building (Ministerio de Hacienda) beginning at 10:30 (local time). Localized traffic disruptions and low-level clashes cannot be ruled out. Further associated protests are possible in the coming weeks.
