Ecuador: Truck drivers suspend strike in Imbabura Nov. 15

At approximately 13:00 (local time) on Thursday, November 15, trade unions representing truck drivers suspended a strike in Ibarra (Imbabura province) following negotiations with government representatives. According to local sources, thousands of truck drivers had staged a strike on Thursday morning starting at 05:00 to protest the Transit Law under consideration by the National Assembly. Further strikes by truck drivers are nevertheless possible in the near term should negotiations break down.
