The National Organization of Petroleum Employees (ONEP) launches three-day strike on December 11; vital services to remain unaffected

Oil workers associated with the National Organization of Petroleum Employees (ONEP) union launched a three-day strike on Tuesday, December 11. According to union leaders, the strike will impact all oil facilities in Gabon. Minimum service may be provided to companies, but disruptions to fuel and oil supplies are possible. However, ONEP has confirmed that all vital services, such as health and security services, will not be impacted by the strike. Associated demonstrations are also possible in the coming days.

Union leaders organized the strike to protest the decision to layoff Total Gabon executive who participated in a strike June 2018. According to ONEP, only four of the six fired executives have been reinstated.
