Thousands of protesters have reportedly gathered outside the Fidesz party headquarters in Budapest on the evening (local time) of Wednesday, December 12. As of 18:50, a heavy police presence has been deployed to Lendvay Street to contain the demonstrators. The spontaneous protest started at Kossuth Square before moving to the Fidesz headquarters. According to local media reports, some demonstrators have attempted to break through the police line but have been pushed back. Clashes between security forces and protesters cannot be ruled out.
