Hungary: Protests to continue in Budapest on December 16 /update 5

Civil society groups have called for a demonstration to be organized in Budapest on Sunday, December 16, to denounce newly-approved labor laws and a judiciary-reform law which critics contend undermines judicial independence. Thousands of demonstrators are expected to rally at 15:00 (local time) at Hősök Tere (Heroes' Square). A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of any demonstration. Clashes between security forces and protesters cannot be ruled out.
