Guatemala: Two demonstrations to be held in Guatemala City January 31

Two demonstrations are slated to be held in Guatemala City on Thursday, January 31. A first demonstration began at 08:00 (local time) along Avenida Reforma to demand better working conditions for teachers. A second, unrelated, demonstration will be held in the city's Zone 9 to commemorate the 1980 burning of the Spanish Embassy. A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are to be expected near any demonstrations.
