Warning

Event

The Youth For Climate organization is planning to hold another climate change protest in Brussels on Friday, March 15. Tens of thousands of people, mostly students, are expected to participate in the rally, which will start at 09:30 (local time) at the Gare Du Nord. The event is being held under the “Global Strike for Future” banner and is in coordination with related demonstrations throughout Europe. Localized traffic disruptions are expected around the protest site.

Context

At least 11,000 people participated in a similar demonstration in Brussels on February 28. Related protests have been held in Belgium since September 2018, notably in Brussels, to demand that states who signed the Paris Agreement in 2015 commit to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions which contribute to global warming.

Advice

Individuals in Brussels are advised to monitor developments to the situation and avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution.
