Nationwide taxi drivers' strike June 3; significant transportation disruptions expected

Taxi drivers in Mexico have called for a nationwide strike to take on Monday, June 3, to denounce perceived regulation discrepancies between authorized taxi drivers and independent drivers for app-based ride-sharing companies. In the capital Mexico City, taxi drivers will reportedly gather at the Zocalo at 08:00 (local time). Taxi drivers have threatened to block access to the capital from 08:00 to 12:00.

Related demonstrations and associated road blockades are expected to take place in major urban centers throughout the day. Significant traffic disruptions are anticipated.
