Sri Lanka: Railway workers hold strike June 19-20

Several railway unions announced a 48-hour strike will be in effect for Wednesday, June 19, and Thursday, June 20. According to the Railway Station Masters' Association, the strike is over salary anomalies and will include drivers, controllers, guards, and stationmasters. The work stoppage was scheduled to begin at 00:00 (local time) on Wednesday. Significant rail transportation disruptions are expected for the duration of the strike along with crowded conditions and residual delays in the following days.
