Heatwave forecast to hit Belgium from June 24-30; drink fluids and avoid outdoor and strenuous activities

Belgium is forecast to experience high temperatures beginning Monday, June 24, and lasting through at least Sunday, June 30, although it cannot be ruled out that they may continue for a few more days. The heatwave is expected to bring temperatures as high as 34°C (89°F) with nightly lows around 16°C (60°F). The heat wave will affect large areas of the country.

Individuals in Belgium are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid strenuous activities or spending time outdoors, particularly during midday, wear loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and avoid dehydrating liquids, such as alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated drinks, and seek immediate medical attention if exhibiting symptoms of heat stroke, such as nausea, confusion, headache, rapid and strong pulse, and dry skin.
