Sri Lanka: Hundreds of students stage demonstration in Colombo July 17

Hundreds of students associated with the Inter-University Students Federation (IUSF) are reportedly participating in a demonstration in Colombo on Wednesday, July 17. According to American diplomatic authorities, the students were slated to gather at Nelum Pokuna Auditorium (Colombo 7) and march to the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Ward Place via Kannangara Mawatha and Lipton Circus.

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected along the march route. Similar demonstrations are possible in Colombo over the coming days and weeks.
