Hong Kong: Disruptions due to Typhoon Wipha July 31
Disruptions have been reported as Typhoon Wipha approaches Hong Kong July 31; rains and associated disruptions expected

The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) issued a Signal No. 8 alert, the third-highest level, for Typhoon Whipha at 14:00 (local time). As of 16:00, Typhoon Wipha was located approximately 300 km (186 mi) west of Hong Kong.
Schools, financial markets, and businesses have closed before the storm makes landfall, as the storm brings heavy rain, strong wind and stormy seas. Sustained winds of 64 km per hour (40 mph) and gusts of 84 km per hour (52 mph) were recorded.
Delays and cancellations are also expected at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), though no schedule changes have been reported as of 16:30.
