Heightened security measures have been reported at Sofia (SOF), Plovdiv (PDV), Varna (VAR), and Burgas (BOJ) airports on Thursday, August 22, following bomb threats sent by email to airport authorities nationwide on Wednesday, August 21.
Police reportedly searched airports for explosive devices unsuccessfully on August 21, as they increased security presence and controls. No flight disruptions were reported as of August 22.
Further increased security measures are expected at the aforementioned airports over the coming days.
