Opposition to hold anti-government protest march in Niamey on September 28; avoid all gatherings

The Front for the Restoration of Democracy and Defence of the Republic (FRDDR) opposition party has called for a march to be held in the capital Niamey on Saturday, September 28. Protesters intend to demand the revision of the Electoral Code ahead of the 2020 legislative elections.

Heightened security measures and associated traffic disruptions are expected along the march route. Security forces may forcibly disperse the protests should there be an escalation in tensions.
