Event

Representatives of the National Taxi Movement have called for several nationwide marches on Monday, October 7, to demand better regulations for private vehicle taxi services provided via digital applications. Participants plan to gather in Mexico City, as well as 27 other states. However, organizers said that they would only announce the march routes and meeting times on Sunday, October 6. They also said that they expect approximately 150,000 people to participate in the nationwide demonstrations.

A heightened security presence and localized transport disruptions are expected along all march routes, as well as an increased demand for alternative means of transport.

Advice

Individuals in Mexico are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all protests and demonstrations, anticipate a heightened security presence and associated transportation and business disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
