Mexico: Tropical Storm Priscilla to affect southwestern Mexico October 20-21
Tropical storm warnings in effect for portions of southwestern Mexico as Tropical Storm Priscilla approaches October 20; heavy rainfall and flooding expected over coming days

Tropical storm warnings were issued on Sunday, October 20, as Tropical Storm Priscilla approaches the southwestern coast of Mexico. According to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC), a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Punta San Telmo to Playa Perula.
As of 10:00 (local time) on Sunday, Priscilla is located at approximately 18.1°N, 104.0°W (map here) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph (40 mph). The storm is moving north at 11 kph (7 mph) and is expected to continue on this track through Sunday as it approaches the southwestern coast of Mexico and moves inland. The storm is expected to bring strong winds and rainfall totals of 12-25 cm (5-10 in) across portions of Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán, with up to 8 cm (15 in) of rainfall possible in isolated areas. Officials have also warned of potential flooding in the abovementioned areas.
Associated power outages and disruptions to transportation and business services are possible in areas forecast to be affected by the system over the coming days.

Individuals in areas forecast to be affected are advised to monitor local weather reports, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, anticipate adverse weather and power and transportation disruptions, and remember that running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult - and never drive through flooded streets; floodwater may also contain wastewater and chemical products.
