Hong Kong: Lawmaker stabbed in Tuen Mun November 6

A pro-establishment lawmaker was stabbed while campaigning with two district council candidates in the Tuen Mun area on the morning (local time) of Wednesday, November 6. According to police reports, the incident occurred on Wu Chui Road in Richland Garden at approximately 08:44. The attacker was detained at the scene and two people were taken to the hospital. An investigation into the stabbing is ongoing. Demonstrations denouncing the attack are possible in the coming hours and days.

Context

The lawmaker has been identified as Junius Ho Kwan-yiu, who has faced significant criticism from anti-government demonstrators after a viral video clip allegedly showed him shaking hands with men suspected of indiscriminately attacking protesters and passengers at the Yuen Long MTR station on July 21. At least 45 people were wounded in the attack, which further escalated tensions in the city.
