Groups schedule protest in Guatemala City on November 14 to denounce alleged coup in Bolivia; transportation disruptions and heightned security expected

Warning

Event

The Peasant Development Committee (CODECA) has scheduled a protest in Guatemala City for Thursday, November 14, to denounce an allegedly racist coup d'état in Bolivia. The protest is also to signal the group's solidarity with indigenous people in Bolivia as former President Evo Morales, a member of the indigenous community, recently resigned. Participants will gather at 08:00 (local time) at the Monumento a los Próceres and will later proceed to the Embassy of The United States.

Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence, particularly at the Embassy, are to be expected throughout.

Advice

Individuals in Guatemala City are advised to avoid all protests as a precaution, monitor the situation, allow ample travel time, and adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities.
