Mexico: Transport disruptions expected during Revolution Day parade in Mexico City November 20

Event

A parade will be held in Mexico City on Wednesday, November 20, on the 109th anniversary of Revolution Day. Participants plan to gather at 12:00 (local time) at the Zócalo, before heading to Campo Marte via 5 de Mayo and Avenida Paseo de la Reforma. At least 2700 civil and military personnel on horses are expected to take part in the event.

Transport officials have said that the roads surrounding the historical center of the capital will be closed ahead of and during the parade, before reopening at 14:00 when the parade is scheduled to conclude. Metrobús officials have also announced disruptions to certain stations and lines, including lines 1, 3, 4, and 7 during the parade. Metro representatives said that two of the four accesses to Zócalo station will close.

A workers union has said that they plan to join the parade in protest. Participants plan to march from the Chamber of Deputies before heading to Zócalo to join the parade.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are expected in Mexico City. Similar commemorative events are possible in major urban areas.
