As of Monday, December 9, hazardous air quality levels have again been recorded in Dhaka, with an air quality index (AQI) reading of 159 at 15:00 (local time). An order against illegal brick factories using coal have been issued by the High Court on Tuesday, November 26, in an attempt to improve air quality across the capital. A heightened security presence has been reported around illegal brick factories as demolishing operations are ongoing. Air quality is expected to improve slightly over the coming days.
