Bangladesh: Student activists to hold protest march from Dhaka University to Jagannath University in Dhaka from 12:00 Nov. 27
Students plan to march from Dhaka University to Jagannath University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 12:00 Nov. 27. Disruptions possible.
Activists from the Democratic Students' Alliance plan to hold a protest march in Dhaka Nov. 27 to denounce the government's alleged repression of student unions. Participants will gather at Raju Sculpture in Dhaka University from 12:00 before heading to Bahadur Shah Park in Jagannath University. Demonstrators could also gather at nearby locations such as Shahbagh Intersection, Suhrawardy Udyan, and Baitul Mukkaram National Mosque. Hundreds of people may join the demonstration.
Authorities will almost certainly monitor any the protest march and could use force, including baton charges and live ammunition, to disperse overly disruptive crowds. Arson and vandalism cannot be ruled out. Associated localized transport disruptions are likely along the march route and near protest sites. Any road blockades will probably exacerbate traffic congestion in the vicinity. Associated localized business disruptions are possible.
Avoid demonstrations due to the threat of violence. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Allow additional travel time in Dhaka through Nov. 27. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
