Iran: 5.0-magnitude earthquake strikes southern Iran December 30

The US Geological Survey recorded a 5.0-magnitude earthquake in southern Iran on Monday, December 30, at approximately 16:49 (local time). The earthquake struck 33 km (20 mi) northeast of Bandar Abbas (Hormozgan province) at a depth of 10 km (6 mi). There were no immediate reports of injuries or material damage.

Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.
