A 5.2-magnitude earthquake strikes northeast of Pinotepa de Don Luis (Oaxaca) on January 15; aftershocks possible

The US Geological Survey recorded a 5.2-magnitude earthquake around 15 km (9 mi) northeast of Pinotepa de Don Luis (Oaxaca) on Wednesday, January 15. The quake hit at around 02:15 (local time) at a depth of 36 km (22 mi). There were no immediate reports of injuries or significant infrastructure damage.
Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.
