On Monday, March 23, seismologists recorded dozens of aftershocks following a 5.4-magnitude earthquake near Zagreb on Sunday, March 22, triggering panic in the capital. The strongest aftershock, a 3.7-magnitude earthquake, was reported on Monday while similar aftershocks were also recorded on Tuesday, March 24. Officials reported at least 26 people injured and a 15-year old girl killed under a collapsed building in the initial 5.4-magnitude quake. The quake also caused widespread damage across Zagreb, damaging 250 houses, burying vehicles in rubble, and displacing 59 people in temporary shelters.

Aftershocks are possible over the coming hours and days.
