The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.0-magnitude earthquake 62 km (39 mi) north of Savannah Bight (Bay Islands department) at approximately 02:04 (local time) on Thursday, April 16; the quake struck at a depth of 10 km (6 mi). There were no immediate reports of injuries or significant material damage, and no tsunami warnings were immediately issued. Further information is awaited.
