Warning

Event

The Fiji Meteorological Service has imposed heavy rain and flood warnings for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau, and Lomaiviti island group as well as the eastern and western regions of Viti Levu and Kadavu as of Tuesday, April 28. The Fiji Roads Authority has also warned of road closures in the Naitasiri district.

Associated transportation disruptions are to be expected in the affected areas.

Advice

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions, anticipate transportation and business disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
