Unknown gunmen reportedly killed at least 20 civilians during an attack in South Darfur state on Thursday, July 23. The armed group attack reportedly attacked the village of Gereida, located around 107 km (66 miles) south of the provincial capital Nyala. Sudanese authorities have reportedly deployed additional security forces to investigate the attack.

Further violence is possible in South Sudan state in the coming days and weeks.
