Warning

Event

Activists supporting Flemish right-wing nationalist party Vlaams Belang plan to stage a vehicular protest in Brussels on Sunday, September 27. Protesters established multiple meeting points in areas surrounding Brussels in the Flanders region, including in Antwerp, Bruges, and Ghent, and will drive together to a parking area at the Brussels Expo Center at 11:00 (local time) on Sunday. The meeting point in Brussels is located in the outskirts of the city; however, it remains unclear if protesters will drive into central Brussels. Thousands are expected to attend and the convoys are likely to hold up traffic along major routes.

A heightened police presence and localized disruptions to transport are to be expected in the vicinity of any demonstrations.

Advice

Those in the Flanders region and Brussels are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate transportation disruptions, avoid the demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
