Honduras: Potential for violence as rival soccer teams to play in Tegucigalpa on October 15

Rival soccer clubs Motagua and Olimpia are set to play at the Tegucigalpa National Stadium on Thursday, October 15, at 17:00 (local time). Warnings have been issued for the potential of violence between supporters of the two rivals who have a history of clashes following matches. The game will be played without spectators, however, supporters from both teams are expected to gather in the vicinity of the stadium leading up to the game and are expected to remain into the night. Although not confirmed, a security cordon may be placed around the stadium to deter the rivals from clashing with each other.   

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are expected throughout the city and in the vicinity of the stadium on match day.
