COVID-19-related restrictions continue in Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam. Some areas to remain on lockdown until at least Feb. 21.

Officials are implementing strict controls in Quang Ninh Province, especially Cai Rong and Dong Trieu, following the confirmation of COVID-19 cases in the area. Residents of Cai Rong and Dong Trieu are required to remain inside their homes unless leaving for essential purposes, such as purchasing food or seeking medical care. Nonessential passenger transport in and out of Cai Rong and Dong Trieu is banned. Outdoor gatherings of more than two persons are prohibited. All nonessential businesses in the specified locations are closed. The measures are set to last until at least Feb. 21 in Cai Rong and until further notice in Dong Trieu. Strict movement controls could be extended to other parts of the province, and possibly adjacent areas, in the coming days and weeks if additional COVID-19 cases are discovered.
Other restrictions have been imposed throughout Quang Ninh Province. The central government has ordered Quang Ninh residents to remain within the province. Van Don International Airport (VDO) is to remain closed until at least Feb. 13. Activities involving large crowds are banned. Factories found to be in violation of social distancing directives may be subject to closure. Educational institutions are closed until further notice.
Officials have set up screening checkpoints on roads throughout Quang Ninh Province. Additional security personnel will likely remain deployed in the province to enforce movement and gathering restrictions. Authorities will probably maintain a heightened security posture for the duration of the restrictions. Severe business and transport disruptions are likely, particularly in Cai Rong, Dong Trieu, and any other areas that come under lockdown orders.
