Warning

Event

Vietnamese authorities have imposed business restrictions in Hanoi in response to COVID-19 activity. Effective Feb. 16 until further notice, street restaurants, cafes, religious venues, and historical sites are required to close. School classes will remain suspended throughout Hanoi until at least March 1. Authorities are also requiring individuals arriving in Hanoi from areas of Vietnam with known COVID-19 activity to submit health declarations. Additionally, a strict lockdown has been imposed in Hai Duong Province, located approximately 27 km (17 miles) east of Hanoi. Additional business, gathering, and movement controls may be introduced in Hanoi and surrounding areas over the coming days.

Authorities have deployed additional personnel to enforce restrictions and conduct health screenings. Officials will likely maintain checkpoints on roads and at transport hubs in locations throughout Hanoi. The heightened security posture is likely to continue for the duration of the restrictions.
