Netherlands: Activists to protest in central Amsterdam against Myanmar coup from 1300 March 6

Activists and members of the Myanmar community are planning to protest at Museumplein in Amsterdam, from 1300 March 6. Participants are planning to oppose the military coup which occurred in Myanmar Feb. 1.

Police will almost certainly deploy to monitor the protests; associated security measures could prompt localized disruptions. Current COVID-19 measures in Amsterdam include the mandatory use of facemasks in crowded spaces and place strict restrictions on public gatherings; police could move to disperse protesters if they are deemed to be in breach of these restrictions.

Avoid the demonstrations as a routine security precaution and to mitigate associated disruptions. Heed instructions from security services and leave the area at the first sign of a confrontation. Allow extra time for travel near Museumplein March 6.
