Hungary: Authorities to ease some COVID-19-related domestic restrictions from April 7 after reaching vaccination milestone /update 23
Hungary to ease some COVID-19-related domestic restrictions from April 7. International entry restrictions remain in place.
Event
Authorities in Hungary plan to ease certain COVID-19 restrictions as the nation reaches a government-assigned threshold of one-quarter of the population receiving at least one vaccine dose. Starting April 7, the nightly curfew will begin two hours later, running 22:00-05:00. All nonessential movement is prohibited during curfew hours. In addition, authorities will allow many nonessential businesses to reopen and operate between the hours of 05:00-21:30.
The following domestic measures remain in place:
All schools are offering remote teaching only until at least April 19.
Commuters may travel to work, even during curfew hours, provided they have the necessary documentation.
Restaurants and cafes are limited to delivery services only.
All events and official gatherings are prohibited; however, private family events are permitted with no more than 10 people in attendance.
Facemasks are mandatory on public transport and in enclosed public spaces.
International Entry Restrictions
International entry restrictions remain in place. Only Hungarian nationals and permanent residents are permitted to enter the country, though there are some limited exceptions. Foreign business travelers are permitted to enter Hungary without restrictions. Most other travelers, including residents and citizens, must quarantine for 10 days on arrival. Incoming travelers who do not have a residential address in Hungary must quarantine at government-designated facilities for 10 days. Travelers may leave quarantine early if two negative COVID-19 tests are presented in the first five days.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements.
