Honduras: Officials extend COVID-19-related nightly curfew in most of the country through June 20 /update 49

Honduras extends COVID-19-related curfew in most of country through June 20. More restrictive measures in place in Olancho Department.

Authorities in Honduras have extended the nation's COVID-19-related 22:00-05:00 nightly curfew until at least June 20 in the entire country, except Olancho Department, where more restrictive measures have been imposed.

In the remaining 17 departments, officials will continue to enforce the nightly curfew, as well as health, sanitization, and other operating protocols at commercial establishments. All banks, supermarkets, shopping centers, and stores nationwide are limited to operating at 50 percent capacity. Businesses that are allowed to operate must ensure that all patrons wear protective facemasks covering their mouths and noses, use hand sanitizer, and practice social distancing. Social gatherings are limited to no more than 10 people. Bars, discotheques, theaters, cinemas, gyms, sporting centers, and convention centers are closed; certain other types of establishments that host large group gatherings also remain closed. Senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities will continue to have special access to authorized commercial establishments 07:00-09:00 and banks 09:00-10:00 nationwide.

In Olancho Department, the nightly curfew is 20:00-05:00. Individuals are allowed to leave their households 05:00-20:00 only on certain days of the week, depending on the last number of their identification card (ID) and according to the following schedule:

  • IDs ending in 9 and 0 can leave their households June 8, June 13, June 18

  • IDs ending in 1 and 2 can leave their households June 9, June 14, June 19

  • IDs ending in 3 and 4 can leave their households June 10, June 15, June 20

  • IDs ending in 5 and 6 can leave their households June 11, June 16

  • IDs ending in 7 and 8 can leave their households June 7, June 12, June 17

Public events in Olancho are banned and places of worship may allow a maximum of 10 people. Nationwide, leaving home during curfew hours is generally limited to essential workers and emergencies, among other exceptions.

International Travel Restrictions
Nonresident foreign nationals who have been in South Africa or the UK in the last 21 days or in South America in the last 15 days are banned from entering the country. Citizens, residents, and diplomats entering from those locations must self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.

All travelers must present a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival in Honduras; travelers who can provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be exempt from the testing requirement. Travelers arriving via air must also complete a pre-arrival (prechequeo) travel form. Passengers departing via the country's land borders are also required to complete the online travel form. Travelers may be subject to additional COVID-19 testing upon arrival. Wearing a facemask is required at all times while traveling.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, tighten, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on local disease activity.

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.
