Small business owners and their supporters are demonstrating in central Kyiv the morning of June 29 over proposed taxation laws. Participants clashed with police on Khreshchatyk Street after police attempted to prevent their passage to the government quarter. Khreshchatyk Street and the nearby Yevropeiska Square remain blocked by police. Hundreds of protesters remain in the area and have indicated they remain determined to march to the Presidential Administration on Bankova Street. Several arrests have been reported.
A heavy security presence will almost certainly remain in the area over the coming hours. Further clashes are possible between security forces and protesters. Localized disruptions are likely to persist.
