Informational

Event

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) stated that a planned water supply outage would affect Colombo's zones 1-3 and 7-11 09:00 July 10-06:00 July 11 due to maintenance works. Residents in zones 4 and 12 may also experience a low-pressure water supply during the period.

While residents have relied on private water suppliers during previous water shortages, such services may be affected due to COVID-19 measures. Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations. Prolonged and recurrent water supply disruptions are possible in the coming days.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water in advance. Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
