Authorities deployed soldiers and police to Lomahasha, Lubombo District, following protests, July 18. Demonstrators gathered at the Lomahasha police station to demand that an officer, who had allegedly shot and killed two people, July 17, be brought to justice. No further incidents have been reported as of the morning July 19.

A heightened security presence will almost certainly remain in place in the coming days. Officials may implement further restrictive measures, including road closures and expanded curfew. Further demonstrations are also possible. If demonstrations occur, clashes between security forces and participants are likely.
