Mozambique: National operator halts long-distance trains through June 14 amid planned maintenance

Mozambique’s State-owned Ports and Rail Company (CFM) has suspended its long-distance freight and passenger trains to South Africa and Eswatini through June 14 amid planned railway maintenance on the Ressano Garcia and Goba lines. Officials report that domestic train service will be limited, and international travel will be halted.

Disruptions to passenger and freight transport are likely, and increased demand for other forms of transport is possible. Increased automotive travel between the three countries could result in longer delays and possible disruptions at border posts. Residual disruptions are possible after the work stoppage concludes.
