Protesting farmers blocking roads in several provinces across Poland as of Aug. 24. Localized transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Farmers affiliated with the AgroUnia movement launched a 48-hour protest in various locations across Poland early Aug. 24. The purpose of the action is to demand more aid for producers who are struggling due to low meat prices and the impact of a disease epidemic affecting pig herds. As part of the protest, participating farmers have set up roadblocks on at least 14 throughfares nationwide, including:

  • DK12 in Srock (Lodz Voivodeship)

  • DK79 in Wawrzenczyce (Lesser Poland Voivodeship)

  • DK94 near Bochnia (Lesser Poland Voivodeship)

  • DK5 in Kolaczkow near Szubin

  • DK11 in Nowe Miasto (Greater Poland Voivodeship)

  • DK76 in Wolka Zastawska (Lubelskie Voivodeship)

The roadblocks are reportedly causing significant traffic disruptions, although protesters are allowing only emergency vehicles to pass through. Although the roadblocks will likely be removed by the morning of Aug. 26, organizers have threatened to take their action into Warsaw if their demands are not met.

Advice

Plan routes to avoid the roadblocks and allow extra time for travel in affected areas through Aug. 25. Heed instructions from authorities; do not attempt to cross blocked routes.
