Officials have restored power in most areas of Southern and Western provinces as of Oct. 6. Outages due to electricity transmission problems on Oct. 5 had affected the Southern Province, as well as Dehiwala, Horana, Mathugama, Pannipitiya, and Rathmalana in Western Province.

Power restoration is reportedly delayed in some areas, mainly in the Southern Province. Lingering commercial and communications disruptions are possible through Oct. 6.

Advice

Plan for lingering disruptions. Confirm business appointments and allow additional time for essential travel. Verify that security systems are working after power restoration. Monitor for updates from service providers on restoration schedule.
