Informational

Event

Zambian officials announced that all commercial flights to and from Ndola will move to a new airport located 14.5 km (9 miles) west of the city center Oct. 7. Both the name Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport and the IATA code NLA will shift to the new airport as well.

The new airport, which was previously known as Copperbelt International Airport, formally opened Aug. 5. However, most airlines have continued to use the old airport. Travelers can expect long lines, traffic delays, and potential flight delays through the remainder of the week as travelers, staff, and airlines adjust to operations at the new airport.

Advice

Travel to the new Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport for all flights from Oct. 7. Allow additional time for travel to and transit through the new airport.
