Sudan: Clashes reported between security forces and students at the University of Khartoum Oct. 7

Students gathered at the University of Khartoum the morning of Oct. 7 over several issues including persistent water and electricity outages. Police forces have deployed in the area and fired tear gas to disperse protesters who set up barricades, causing traffic disruptions in nearby streets. There have been no reported casualties.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely over the coming hours in the vicinity of the university. Further clashes cannot be ruled out.
