Chile: Protesters cause transport disruptions Oct. 27

Protesting taxi drivers have blocked Avenida Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins, widely known as La Alameda, the main thoroughfare through central Santiago, as of the afternoon of Oct. 27. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand lower gasoline taxes. Though the protest has been peaceful, major transport disruptions are likely to persist across Santiago throughout Oct. 27.
