At least one person was reportedly killed following clashes with police in Omdurman Nov. 13. Police have reportedly resorted to the use of live ammunition amid the clashes. An unconfirmed number of protests have been injured. Anti-coup activists initially called for nationwide protests on Nov. 13 to oppose the Oct. 25 military coup d'etat.

A heightened security presence will almost certainly persist throughout Omdurman and Khartoum through Nov. 13. Police will likely continue to resort to the use of force to disperse protesters. Localized traffic and commercial disruptions are likely near all protest sites.

Advice

Avoid all protests and nonessential travel in public, as well as concentrations of security personnel. Carry identification to facilitate passage through checkpoints. Liaise with diplomatic representations and trusted contacts.
