Gabon: Nationwide stay-at-home protest scheduled Dec. 15
Activists call for stay-at-home protest across Gabon Dec. 15. Avoid all potential demonstrations.

The Dynamique Identitaire (DU) union coalition, along with opposition activists, hves called for nationwide stay-at-home protests Dec. 15. The purpose of the action is to denounce restrictive COVID-19 related measures that will be implemented from Dec. 15. Related protests are possible Dec. 15; if protests materialize they will likely take place in major cities, including Libreville, likely in front of government buildings.
Business and travel disruptions are likely in Gabon Dec. 15. Clashes are possible if activists decide to gather and ignore police orders to disperse.
Context
From Dec. 15, authorities will update COVID-19 domestic restrictions. From that date, individuals will have to show a negative COVID-19 PCR test or a vaccination certificate to access public places, administrations, businesses, restaurants, and snack bars. Individuals will have to pay XAF 20,000 to undertake a PCR test.
Advice
Avoid all related demonstrations Dec. 15. Allow additional time to reach destinations near protest venues. If violence breaks out, leave the area immediately, and take shelter in a secure, non-governmental building. Reconfirm all public transportation services and business appointments.
