Gabon: Nationwide stay-at-home protests scheduled Jan. 13-14

The Copil Citoyen civil society organization has called for nationwide stay-at-home protests Jan. 13-14. The purpose of the action is to denounce restrictive COVID-19 related measures and demand transparency regarding the management of COVID-19 funds. Related protests are possible Jan. 13-14; if protests materialize, they will likely take place in major cities, including Libreville, likely in front of government buildings.

Business and travel disruptions are likely in Gabon during the protest movement. Clashes are possible if activists decide to gather and ignore police orders to disperse.
